Biodiversity

From the beginning of the "Integrated Project Biodiversity" (Swiss Priority Programm Environment) the Managment & Coordination Office MCO has been involved in the dissemination of research results. This lead to a constant involvement with the Convention on Biological Diversity CBD and its Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice SBSTTA by actively contributing up-to-date biodiversity research expertise as postulated in CBD Art. 12.

The Managment & Coordination Office also covers other biodiversity related international issues and closely co-operates with the Swiss Biodiversity Forum (Swiss Academy of Natural Sciences SANW).

Current project

Development of an Instrument for the implementation of the Bonn Guidelines in the Context of Academic Research in Switzerland

Former project

Elaboration of a study concerning the Swiss participation to the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) from the viewpoint of researchers and museums as well as an assessment of biodiversity collections housed in Swiss museums and institutions.
