Global Change and the Genetic Structure of Grassland Species
Global change is expected to affect micro-evolutionary processes. Here, we take advantage of a long-term CO₂ enrichment experiment in the field. Using molecular markers and quantitative genetics we analyse the population genetic consequences of enhanced atmospheric CO₂ in several grassland species with different life cycles after six years of CO₂ enrichment. Using RAPD-PCR and quantitative genetics we explore population differentiation in Scabiosa columbaria, a species probably suffering from isolation of its populations in remnants of calcareous grasslands.
